San Kamphaeng is a small town about 9 miles east of the city. It has many handicraft workshops and is famous for high-quality products. We went there on an afternoon taxi tour to look at some of the workshops. This man was just finishing the bottom of a container with strips of bamboo wound in a tight spiral. The finished container will be covered with lacquer and perhaps decorated with paints or eggshells.
